WHEN TEMPS BEGIN TO DROP-FALL CRAPPIE MIGRATION
At the end of those dog days of summer the cold fronts begin to move in dropping the water temps. As water temps fall crappie will begin to worry about putting on fat for the winter months. Crappie will gorge on baitfish during this time.
When the water temp drops into the low 70's and cooler locating the baitfish is the ticket to catching the crappie that follow and feed on them. Baitfish will migrate to shallow bays in the fall. Some say the shad are moving there to feed while others say it is the more oxygen rich environment which happens as the waters cool.
