Redear and Lake Okeechobee

Lake Okeechobee is known for its big bluegills, and I have recently learned about the excellent redear and shellcracker fishing. Using long rods like the Ambush by BnM Fishing works great for probing the grass out to 25 feet. Casting our Slab Dragon or Hairy Cricket Jigs under a small bobber will work great. My dad told me that they were catching grass shrimp for bait to use for bluegills and redear. I have never used grass shrimp, but I’ve seen videos of grass shrimp being used to catch big redear on Lake Okeechobee, so I know they make for good bait.
